The POSADA del BOSQUE ENCANTADO is a comfortable hotel in San Marcos La
Laguna, a small mayan village near the shores of volcanic Lake Atitlan
in Guatemala. This hotel with its beautiful gardens is a perfect
destination for musicians, writers and artists, and an excellent
location for small group retreats.
Its “Cafe Cultural” offers culinary
delights created and served to guests by the very musicians who provide
you with excellent entertainment following your meal. The owner often
invites guests to enjoy a cup of homegrown coffee on the balcony of her
treehouse while performing a few of her original songs.
A campfire circle located in the midst of our coffee, avocado and
citrus forest becomes the site of musical full moon gatherings or an
occasional Mayan ceremony.
Our temascal, or sauna, is available for rent to guests.
There is swimming on the nearby shores of Lake Atitlan, cliff diving
from rocks along the hillsides and walks to mayan villages neighboring
San Marcos La Laguna.
This growing community of foreigners from many
countries offers a variety of alternative healing therapies, yoga,
meditation, classes in massage and other healing arts, and an amazing
dance studio. There are many projects which benenfit the local mayan
population, and many opportunities to participate as a volunteer in
different areas of interest.
